Six reasons SIP installers and self-builders trust us with our foundations.

Installed in 4-6 hours

Most garden room foundations completed before lunch. Your modular build can start the same day.

Perfectly level finish

Each screw individually height-adjusted. Your room sits flat, even on sloping or uneven ground.

Zero garden mess

No diggers, no spoil heaps, no concrete trucks. Your lawn survives intact.

Build the same day

No 3-7 day concrete cure. The SIP panels or timber frame can go up immediately.

35-year guarantee

Engineered for an expected lifespan of around 60 years depending on ground conditions.

Removable in future

Selling the house, moving the room, repurposing the space? Screws extract cleanly with no concrete to break out.

Garden Room Foundations: Ground Screws vs Concrete.

Traditional Concrete

  • 3-7 day cure before building can start
  • Heavy excavation and spoil to dispose of
  • Lawn destroyed by diggers and concrete trucks
  • Permanent — disturbs the site forever
  • Weather-dependent pour

MW Ground Screws

  • Load-bearing in hours
  • Zero excavation, zero spoil
  • Lawn intact, garden access only
  • Fully removable in future
  • Install in any weather

WHAT TO EXPECT

How We Build A Garden Room Base.

Typically 10–20 screwsMost installed in a day35-year guarantee

Most garden-room bases sit on somewhere between ten and twenty screws, set out to match the footprint and the weight of the building — whether it is SIP, timber frame or modular. A typical base is installed in a single day and levelled screw by screw, so it stays true even across a sloping plot, and the builder can start on top the same day with no concrete to cure. It is a clean, low-disruption alternative to a slab, and every installation carries our 35-year structural guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a garden room foundation take?
Most domestic builds are 4-6 hours onsite. A small sub-3m² studio base can be done in under three hours. Larger 30m² builds typically take a full day.
Do I need planning permission for a garden room on ground screws?
The foundation method doesn't trigger planning. Whether the room above needs permission depends on its size, height, and your property's permitted development rights. Your local planning portal is the final word — we're happy to start once you've got that side sorted.
Can ground screws support a SIP garden room?
Yes — SIP panels and timber-frame garden rooms are the most common installs we do. We work directly with All Season Garden Rooms and other SIP installers in Shropshire and the Midlands.
What if my garden slopes?
Slopes are exactly where ground screws shine. Each screw can be set to a precise individual height, so we level the foundation regardless of how uneven the ground starts out. We've delivered builds on gardens with up to 1m drops across their width.
Will the screws damage my lawn or garden?
Minimal disturbance. Each screw site is roughly 100mm wide with no excavation around it. We bring kit in by foot — no heavy machinery on the grass.
How much does a garden room foundation cost?
It depends on the room size, the ground conditions, and the screw spec required. A typical 4×3m garden room foundation comes in well under the cost of equivalent concrete strip foundations, and saves you several days of waiting time. Free site surveys mean you'll have a fixed quote before committing to anything.
Do you work with my garden room installer?
Yes — we coordinate directly with your installer, builder, or self-build project. We mark every screw position to their exact spec, and the room can be erected the same day.
What about garden rooms over 30m²?
Larger garden rooms and granny annexes work well on ground screws too. The screw spec, depth, and quantity are calculated from the loads — we'll engineer the right foundation regardless of size. Buildings over 50m² often need additional engineering review which we coordinate.
